Mountains, rivers, glaciers and volcanoes will unfold as we take you around in four easy stages. Only four hotels are used which makes the days more relaxed and the evenings a time to talk to your fellow travellers about your day spent in ever-changing scenery. There will also be opportunity to do some walking in the beautiful countryside. The contrasting boat trips included in this tour will make you wonder if you have travelled in many different countries. You will see icebergs on the south coast and lush green islands on the west coast. This is a classical adventure staying in basic comfortable summer country hotels with private facilities. Group size is from 8 to maximum 30 passengers to ensure comfort and convenience

Tour Itinerary:
Day 01 – Saturday  USA/ICELAND
Board your modern jetliner for an overnight flight to Keflavik Airport in Iceland.
Meals: in flight

Day 02 – Sunday  REYKJAVIK
Upon arrival scheduled coach transfer on own included to Reykjavik City Terminal. Here you will be met by a representative from Gudmundur Jonasson Travel for a short transfer to your hotel. Afternoon free on own to explore Reykjavik.

Day 03 – Monday REYKJAVIK-BORGARFJÖRDUR
The day starts with a drive to the famous Gullfoss and Geysir. You will also visit the beautiful church of Skolholt and the Pingvellir National Park, site of the Viking Parliament, before continuing Borgarfjödur, where you will stay for the next two nights.

Day 04 – Tuesday SNÆFELLSNES
Today you will drive around the Snæfellsnes peninsula which is dominated by the glacier where, according to Jules Verne’s book the entrance to the earth can be found. You will visit some cozy small fishing towns and drive through interesting lava fields and on to the town of Stykkisholmur and take a boat trip around the islands of Breidafjördur, home of puffins and the white tailed eagle.

Day 05 – Wednesday BORGARFJÖRDUR-EYJAFJÖRDUR-PINGEYJARSYSLA
You will pass the beautiful waterfalls of Hraunfossar (lava falls) before heading for Skagafjördur where you will visit the farm museum at Glaumbaer. Next you will be introduced to the Icelandic horse and then on to Eyjafjördur or Pingeyjarsyrsal area for a three night stay.

Day 06 – Thursday EYJAFJÖDUR
Morning sightseeing in Akureeyri and a short boat trip to the island of Hrisey situated in Iceland’s longest fjord Eyjafjördur. You will also visit the fishing village of Dalvik before returning.

Day 07 – Friday GODAFOSS - MYVATN
Today you will visit the waterfall of the Gods, Godafoss, enroute to Lake Myvatn. There you will find lush vegetation and many different species of birds, some of which are not found elsewhere in Europe. You will continue to the lave field Dimmuborgir and climb up to the rim of the ash crater Hverfjall. Before returning to hotel a stop will be made at Myvatn Nature Bath.

Day 08 – Saturday DETTIFOSS - FLJOTSDALSHERAD

The Tjörnes Peninsula is one of the most fascinating geological areas of Iceland. You will stop at the magnificent waterfall Dettifoss, the most powerful in Europe. Continue to the Egilsstadir area for a three night stay.

Day 09 – Sunday FLJOTSDALUR-SEYDISFJÖRDUR
You will go around the Lake Lögurinn passing the farm mansion at Skriduklaustur with its large unusual type of house. When conditions are suitable you will enjoy a good walk to one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland, Hengifoss. In the afternoon a visit is made to the fishing town of Seydisfjördur.

Day 10 – Monday BORGARFJÖRDUR-EYSTRI
Daytour to this short wide fjord and grassy, fertile valley with a charming fishing village of the same name. You will see some magnificent colorful mountains and numerous beautiful rocks and rare stones are to be found here.

Day 11 – Tuesday FLJOTSDALSHERAD-SKAFTAFELL
Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, dominates the landscape with its glacial tongues and icebergs calving into a glacial lagoon. You will take a boat trip on the lagoon among the icebergs. Two nights will be spent in the Skaftafell National Park area.

Day 12 – Wednesday SKAFTAFELL
Full day is spent in the National Park relaxing and/or walking.

Day 13 – Thursday SKAFTAFELL-REYKJAVIK
Today you will return to Reykjavik driving along the south coast through fertile meadows and the sandy desert. You will see several beautiful waterfalls along the way and may spot some puffins or seals. Afternoon arrival in Reykjavik. Overnight at Guest House Borgartun.

Day 14 – Friday REYKJAVIK-USA
Morning free for optional Reykjavik City Tour or some last minute shopping before transfer on own to Keflavik Airport and your afternoon flight back to the U.S.
