This tour starts out in Oslo with a scenic 6 hour train ride north along the Gudbrandsdals Valley and over the spectacular Dovrefjell Mountains to Trondheim. Along the way you will pass Lillehammer, site of the 1994 Winter Olympics, Dombås and Dovrefjell, at over 3000 feet above sea level, famous for it’s rich fauna and wild life including reindeer, elk and musk ox.
Trondheim is Norway’s third largest city and the former capital city. It is large enough to offer many activities and cultural events but small enough to be traversed by foot. The old city section is a must, with it’s charming old houses, shops and excellent restaurants. After two nights in Trondheim the tour continues with an overnight cruise on the famous Hurtigruten Coastal Voyage to Bergen, the gateway to the fjords

Tour N28A Itinerary:
Day 1—OSLO to TRONDHEIM
Depart Oslo by morning train up the Gulbrandsen Valley via Dombås and over the beautiful Dovrefjell Mountains to Trondheim. Trondheim was founded in the year 997 by King Olav Tryggvason and became Norway’s medieval capital and ecclesiastical center. Be sure to visit the Nidaros Cathedral and Episcopal Palace, both dating from the 12th century.
2 nights at charming Britannia Hotel including breakfast.

Day 2—TRONDHEIM
Spend a leisurely day in this charming old Norwegian capital city. There is much to see and do.

Day 3—TRONDHEIM to BERGEN
Today you depart Trondheim at 10:00 AM on one of the famous Norwegian Coastal Voyage (now named "Hurtigruten") overnight ships bound for Bergen. En route you will enjoy spectacular scenery as you call at Kristiansund, Molde, Ålesund, Torvik, Maløy and Florø.
